Bamboo is stronger and denser than most hardwood when in fact it is not
wood, but a species
of grass. It is 16% harder than maple and 1/3 lighter in weight than
oak. There are more than 1200 species of bamboo in the world. This bowl
is made from "Moso" timber bamboo for its strength,
density and versatility. It is not a habitat for pandas.
Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on earth. After harvesting
it can be re-harvested every 4 1/2 years. Most hardwood have a 30 to 60
year growth cycle.
Bamboo needs no replanting, grows without fertilizer or
pesticides and is biodegrable, even compostable so there's zero waste.
