Designed and made by special needs teacher Barbara Lee Daboll as a fun children's developmental tool.
Since a child's first writing tool is usually a crayon, that crayon should be one that encourages him or her to use thumb, first and second fingers to grasp. This tripod grip encouragement makes Crayon Rocks an excellent handwriting practice tool and a wonderful coloring material. They spill their creative ideas onto paper, which is wonderful art therapy for children. Additionally this is a colouring tool that students with grip strength problems and sensory processing disorders affecting fine motor control, which can be found in cerebral palsy, autism, developmental delays and various forms of learning disabilities, can use and enjoy.
The soybeans and the wax are processed in the USA, and are actually edible and kosher. All soy wax blooms and takes on a dusty wax appearance (like chocolate). This is a natural effect of soy and is not due to spoiling. The crayons actually look better with use, as finger oils return the crayons to their glossy appearance.
Please note some of the crayons may have a small pit. This is a result
in the shrinkage of the natural wax used and cannot be avoided. The pit
however, can provide additional grip for your child.
These
crayons can be a choking hazard and should not be put in a child's
mouth.
