These could be the coolest pencils in the class! This set of 12 eco-friendly pencils
features 12 different wildlife animal designs, each representing a different colour. The pencils are made from 100% recycled newspaper, helping preserve our
forests. Along with its own distinctive painted-on animal design, each pencil features the name of the animal on the solid band colour covering its top inch. The concept behind
this wildlife series is one of education. Pencil maker O'Bon hopes
that designing their products around vibrant colours and animal prints
will help raise awareness of some of the planet's most stunning
creatures. Easy to sharpen and splinter free.

Not only does making pencils from old newspapers help preserve our
forests, but the process of rolling newspaper around graphite instead
of encasing it in wood means that the graphite is far better protected.
In comparison, merely dropping a wood pencil on the floor can result in
the graphite splintering and cracking. This is why O'Bon confidently
states that their pencils often last 2-3 times longer than conventional
wood pencils.
The O'Bon factory is low on the energy consumption scale of producing
pencils. Unlike wood pencils, there are no trees to chop, no wood
slates to grind and no hexagonal shape to cut by grinding wood.
Their philosophy is simple: Take a common school item, such as a
pencil, and turn it into something exciting, something special, and
something different. They strive to end the days when pencils came in
bland colors, broke constantly and consumed valuable environmental
resources.
Media says:
"Coloured Pencils from O’Bon combine green thinking with an educational edge. Made from 100% recycled newsprint, each colour is named after an animal and sports its own painted-on animal design. And while that’s all great, what we love most about them are the clean, vibrant colours, plus the fact that they’re easy to sharpen. And we’re convinced they last way longer than regular pencil crayons. But if coloured pencils aren't on your school supply list, O’Bon also make also equally eco-friendly, though less fancy, regular pencils." Yoyomama.ca
