Sugarcane Notebooks - obon strawberry A5
This fresh fruit looks so good, you can almost taste it! High definition photography combined with textured pop out images makes these spiral notebooks vibrant with colour and style. Most paper is made from wood. Even if you use “recycled” paper, which is a huge improvement, the process starts with cutting down a tree. O’BON uses Bagasse or sugarcane paper for their notebooks. Bagasse, pronounced “Buh-Gas”, is essentially what remains after the sugarcane plant is drained of its juice. This leftover pulp or fibre has outstanding and very useful qualities. Notebook cover is made from 100% recycled cardstock and ink is non-toxic.

More information:
Bagasse or sugarcane grows almost like a weed. Fast growing in a thick mono-culture settting, it can be grown yearly with little wear or tear on the earth and soil. It does not require heavy fertilizers, nor does it demand much more than rainwater to grow. As sugarcane grows in the tropics, rain and sun are plentiful. It grows very quickly and costs very little. Most importantly, the fiber or pulp that is often just thrown away has many great uses. This fiber can be used to make paper, spoons, forks, plates and boxes, thus reducing the demand for plastic. Best of all these products can be made with little energy, no chlorine or other toxic chemicals.
O’BON is based in the USA and is dedicated to designing, manufacturing and distributing stationery products. They strive to incorporate 3 fundamental elements into every one of their products, specifically - quality, responsibility and affordability.
